Integration:
1.) STLP -
Current STLPs: Western Hills High School, Collins Lane Elementary, Westridge Elementary, Elkhorn Middle, and Bondurant
Our goal is to have all schools with a functioning STLP.
We also intend to have a FCPS Technology Showcase yearly starting in the 2011-2012 school year. We recommend that it be held prior to May first due to the testing window in 2012. As far as the name for the showcase we recommend that students be given the opportunity to devise the name and we will select the winner. This will give the students ownership and will allow them to use their creative minds. By May, 2011 we will form a sub-committee with a member from each school that will facilitate the event.
2.) PD -
- administrators - STC will work with principals to secure time for technology training whether it be during planning, faculty meetings, or after school sessions.
- pre-assessment results (some teachers or kids can help group based instruction) We recommend purchasing a pre-assessment tool that will accurately assess staff technology proficiency.
- Integrate assessment results with growth plans (teachers, school level, district level) * Need to EXPECT and USE it
- offer specialized PD based on pre-assessment results that is relevant and differentiated.
We recommend using a minimum of one early release day in the 2011-2012 for technology training that will based on the pre-assessment results.
3.) Finding a way to maximize resources, ideas, and personnel.
We recommend creating a shared folder or a online database of technology integrated lessons. In efforts to promote this, we recommend that an incentive for participation be offered or a once a year mandatory uploads. We will have to consider how we are going to organize it. We feel that this is a valid venture but have concerns about quality, monitoring, and format that need to be addressed before we move forward on this project. One idea is to have a set of standards or a check list that must be met before the lesson is uploaded.
Although the lesson database will need to be researched further; we recommend starting with a shared online database of resources for our staff at the district level.
